Here's the schedule for the year: http://celebrationeducation.ning.com/page/2015-2016-adventure-at-the-museum ;

Each week's lesson is in the Discussion forum, not really in order.

Each week's activities follow a general outline, each relating to the weekly topic:

1. A craft or art project

2. An activity to Introduce the main key points of the topic

3. An activity intended for small groups to collaborate

4. A language arts activity

5. A logic/math activity

6. A discussion and activity about conflict and resolution

7. A larger activity reinforcing the main topic in general

8. A physical activity

The students are encouraged to "curate" anywhere and any time. Here's the "Curate!" paper that they can use and add to their folders.

The discussions in the forum below are from the last time we used this theme.

We will add notes for each week's lessons as the year progresses.

Celebration Education recognizes that our students come from a variety of backgrounds and belief systems. While we encourage you to live according to your beliefs, Celebration Education is a vendor for several charter schools (public schools funded by tax dollars) which means we are not permitted to give religious instruction to charter school students.

Our first component this year is reflective of the displays found in various natural history museums, and we will be discussing how the universe came to be, how the earth came to be, dinosaurs, and how life came to be on earth. We will be presenting information about the prevailing theories that attempt to explain these events. While we recognize that not everyone believes in these theories, we feel some interesting science can be learned through a discussion of these theories.

We will not disparage you if your beliefs differ from these prevailing scientific theories and we encourage you to take this opportunity to reinforce your beliefs with your children during these first few weeks. For example, it should be fairly easy to coordinate your own creation unit with our “The World Is Born” component. Feel free to post here to share your ideas on how you bring your faith into this component.

Attention charter school families: if you want to know how to tell your EF or ES what we did in class each week  you can print out the weekly Discussion above for each topic week and hand that in! This year we will have each lesson written out in Teacherese (is that even how you spell it, I totally do not speak teacher so I am really excited about this added bonus!) Make sure you check it out! Opening Celebration and Week 2: Scales of the Universe are already up!!

Okay so I couldn't get the Teacherese to print from there, I am not sure if it is my printer or what, so here is PDF of week 2 Scales of the Universe:

Many of you have asked me about the teacherese for this weeks lesson (Traces of Life)! It is not ready quite yet but it will be posted on Monday! Sorry for the delay!!

Are the numbers off? Lesson 3 says "our planet" and lesson 4 says "traces of life". What happened to the ocean lesson from this week? October 3rd-7th?
Comment by Katie Ortiz on October 6, 2011 at 3:42pm
O no. I did the Ocean lesson this week, not the fossil lesson. So for the students in the Riverside/Corona group and the Mountain Home Village group, the Teacherese is not up yet for your lesson this week
